Frequently asked questions

Answers about what GetTbill is, what is real, and how bills behave.

About GetTbill

What is GetTbill?

A Treasury bill analytics and simulation platform. It shows official rates and auction results, provides calculators and lessons, and lets you run a simulated portfolio against official reference rates.

Can I buy real Treasury bills here?

No. GetTbill does not offer or sell securities and cannot place a real bid or order. Orders in a demo account are simulated and never leave the system.

Is GetTbill a broker or adviser?

No. It is not a broker, dealer, adviser, bank or custodian, and it does not give investment, legal or tax advice.

Who operates GetTbill?

The operating legal entity has not been confirmed. The current value is shown in the site footer and on the legal pages, and it is read from the platform’s configuration.

Real and simulated

Which parts are real?

US Treasury rates and auction results, and official yields for the markets marked as data connected, come from government publications. They are published data with dates, not live prices.

Which parts are simulated?

Bid and ask quotes, orders, fills, settlement, cash balances, funding, withdrawals, identity checks, maturity payments and statements. No money or securities move.

Does a simulated return tell me what I would really earn?

No. Simulated results use simulated prices and ignore real-world costs, availability and timing. They are for learning how the workflow behaves and do not represent actual or expected performance.

Data

How current are the rates?

US bill rates are end-of-day publications, so the latest figure is normally from the previous business day. Each figure shows its observation date. Other markets update on their own schedules, and a source that has stopped updating is marked as stale.

Why do some fields say “Unavailable”?

Because the platform does not have a verified value. GetTbill shows that instead of estimating. For example, non-US bills have no simulated quote, because they are data only.

Why are markets not ranked by yield?

Markets use different quoting conventions, currencies and credit profiles, and no FX data is modeled. A higher nominal rate in another currency is not a higher return, so a ranking would mislead.

Treasury bills

How does a bill pay me if it has no coupon?

You buy it below face value and receive face value at maturity. The difference is your income.

What is the difference between the discount rate and the investment rate?

The discount rate is measured on face value using a 360-day year. The investment rate is measured on the price paid using a 365 or 366-day year, so it is the better figure for comparing with other investments. It is higher for the same bill.

Can I lose money on a Treasury bill?

If a US bill is held to maturity and the government pays as promised, it pays face value. If you sell earlier, the price depends on rates at the time, and you can realize a loss. Holding through an intermediary adds that intermediary’s risks.

Is a claim on a company that holds bills the same as owning a bill?

No. A bill is an obligation of the government. A contractual claim on a company is an obligation of that company, even if it holds bills, and it carries that company’s credit and operational risk.

Demo access

How do I try the demo?

Create an account, complete the simulated onboarding and add simulated funds. Please use test details only, as the demo is not intended for real personal or financial information.

Does the demo cost anything?

No money moves on this platform, and no payment details are requested.
