How it works
From official data to a simulated portfolio
There are four stages. The first two use real published data. The last two use that data as a reference for a simulator, and every simulated figure is labeled.
- Stage 1
Collect official data
Scheduled jobs read government publications and store each observation with its date, source and retrieval time.
- US daily bill rates from the U.S. Treasury
- Security reference and auction results from TreasuryDirect
- Yields for other markets where an official source responded in testing
- Stage 2
Explore and compare
Filter listed bills, read the curve, compare it to an earlier date and review auctions.
- Treasury Market Explorer with source and quality labels
- Curve change in basis points
- Unranked view of other markets with their conventions
- Stage 3
Plan with tools
The calculator and ladder builder apply market conventions to the amounts you enter.
- Price, income and yield for a single bill
- Early sale and rate sensitivity examples
- Liquidity schedule for a ladder
- Stage 4Simulated
Simulate a portfolio
In a demo account, simulated quotes are derived from official rates. Orders pass through validation, execution and settlement, then post to a ledger.
- Simulated funding with a fictional reference
- Orders against a short-lived simulated quote
- Maturity, reinvestment, reconciliation and statements
Where official data stops and simulation starts
This is the most important boundary on the platform. Any figure from the right column is labeled as simulated where it appears.
From official sources
- US Treasury bill rates and par yields
- US auction announcements and results
- Official yields for the markets marked as data connected
- The pricing formulas, tested against published US auction results
Simulated by GetTbill
- Bid and ask quotes
- Orders, fills and settlement
- Cash balances, funding and withdrawals
- Identity and business verification
- Maturity payments and statements
